Eriez has developed a complete line of magnetic components and equipment for use in automated material handling systems. Magnets can be used to convey, transfer, control, elevate, position, hold, or orient ferrous materials and finished parts.
Chip & Coolant ProcessingProblem: A superabrasive finishing solutions provider was experiencing substantial downtime due to cleaning clogged canister filters. The clogging was caused by the large quantity of swarf generated during single pass bore finishing.Solution: The company determined it needed an additional coolant cleaner before the canister. They found a solution in the Eriez Model CS5-7 magnetic coolant cleaner.Material HandlingProblem: Small, sharp, difficult-to-handle scrap from a stamping machine created a costly nuisance for a manufacturer of food waste disposals and other products for home and commercial use.Solution: An Eriez Magnetic Chip and Parts Conveyor was installed in a 2-foot (610mm) trench beneath the machine. About 5 tons (4.5mt) of scrap a day was collected, conveyed to the end of the trench and lifted five feet (1524mm) into discharge hoppers. Materials SeparationProblem: A manufacturer was struggling with iron fines in the cutting oil prematurely wearing out their pumping equipment, reducing oil and tooling life and diminishing the finish quality of work piece. Solution: An Eriez Ferrous Liquid Line Trap was installed in the oil line just before the coolant fluid returned to the machine tool. The permanent magnetic elements of the trap captured all of the iron fines and required only periodic cleaning.
