Permanent Magnetic Separators use permanent magnet material with no electric power required

These separators can last a life time with no loss of strength unless subjected to electrical current, extremely high temperature or physical abuse. With none of the previous limitations a permanent magnet will only lose approximately 1/10 of 1% per year in field strength.

Permanent magnet material is available in a wide variety of types.
ALNICO is one of the first materials to be used in the manufacture of magnetic separators. A casting of Aluminum, Nickel, Iron and Cobalt it is still used today in some high temperature applications.
CERAMIC is a generic name for a group of permanent magnet material that uses ceramics to bond with ferrite elements such as Strontium Ferrite. Orginally used as a replacement for ALNICO in the early 1970's when the price of Cobalt forced ALNICO prices to rise substantialy it is now used for applications requiring minimum strength.
RARE EARTH magnet material is neither rare nor earth. In the late 1970's an alloy of Samarium and Cobalt was introduced as a magnet material. Because Samarium is one of the Lanthanide elements on the Periodic Table which are commonly referred to as the "Rare Earth Elements" Samarium Cobalt was referred to as a "Rare Earth" Magnet Material. It has since been predominantly replaced with a large variety of alloys containing Neodymium, Boron and Iron.

Plate Magnets

Eriez' broad range of Plate Magnets remove unwanted ferrous metals, protect equipment from damage or improve the downstream processing purity of your product. Five magnetic strengths. Install in chutes, feed tables and over conveyor belts. Sizes from 4 to 72-inches (102 to 1828mm). Available in stainless steel and sanitary construction, with tapered steps and removable face plates.

Grate Magnets

Extract small and fine iron when installed in steep-sloped, odd and irregular-shaped hoppers, vertical closed chutes and ducts. Available with Erium® Rare Earth RE5HP in all models, including drawer and wing-type grates, Grates in Housing and Rota-Grates.

Liquid Line Magnetic Traps

Eriez' line of powerful, permanent magnetic Ferrous Traps provide magnetic protection for liquid lines and processing equipment. They preserve product purity and help prevent equipment damage by removing small particles of magnetic scale, rust and fine iron contamination from liquid product flows.

Magnetic Humps, RF Cartridge, & Deep Reach

Effectively remove tramp iron from material conveyed pneumatically or where large volumes of free-flowing materials fall by gravity. Two magnets in a dogleg housing increase iron removal efficiency. Hinged magnets open for easy cleaning. Also available in self-cleaning model and with Erium 3000 Rare Earth magnetic elements.

Pulley Magnets

Used as head pulley in belt conveyors for continuous automatic removal of ferrous from non-ferrous material. Eriez new axial-interpole circuit provides very high ferrous recovery.
