Problem:
With a processing rate not allowed to fall below 7,000 tons per day (6,350 mtpd), the St. Joseph Lead Company of Viburnum, MO, USA could not afford to risk damage to their secondary crushing equipment.
Solution:
The risk was eliminated by installing two Eriez oil-cooled
Suspended Electromagnets installed over a conveyor belt carrying ore at a rate of approximately 400 tons per hour (363 mtph). The magnets reportedly removed all of the ferrous tramp metal large enough to damage the crushers.
