Problem:
A U.S. chewing tobacco manufacturer wanted to increase productivity and reduce maintenance down time with the vibratory feeders on his packaging machines.
Solution:
The company switched from older style "attract and release" type vibratory feeders to Eriez' patented
High Deflection Feeders, which had a significantly higher tray amplitude. Doing so allowed the sticky tobacco to feed 30% faster and more uniformly, which reduced overfeed. These feeders, which operate at 1/8-inch (3mm) amplitude, reportedly reduced maintenance and down time by more than 75 percent.
